Aurora advance in lower bracket at DreamLeague Season 29

Aurora Gaming trounced Tundra Esports 2-0 on Friday to reach the lower-bracket semifinals at the $1 million DreamLeague Season 29 online event.

The day’s action began with the lower-bracket second round in which Tundra Esports edged Xtreme Gaming 2-1 while PlayTime rallied past BetBoom Team 2-1.

Sixteen teams began the Dota 2 tournament on May 13. The top four finishers from Group A and Group B moved into the upper-bracket playoffs, with the fifth- and sixth-place finishers advancing to the lower bracket.

The double-elimination playoffs began Tuesday. All matches are best-of-three until the best-of-five grand final on Sunday. The winning team will take home $250,000 in player prize money, a club bonus of $40,000 and a minimum of 6,000 ESL Pro Tour points.

On Friday, Aurora rolled past Tundra in 44 minutes on green and 38 minutes on red. Malaysia’s Chung “Ws” Wei Shen paced Aurora Gaming with a 28-7-26 kill-death-assist ratio. The United Kingdom’s Matthew “Ari” Walker topped Tundra Esports at 11-19-19.

Earlier, Tundra registered a 63-minute victory on red before Xtreme Gaming replied with a 56-minute win on red. Tundra Esports took the decisive third map in 71 minutes on red. Russia’s Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko recorded a 30-16-44 K-D-A ratio for Tundra. China’s Lin “Xxs” Jing logged a 31-17-35 K-D-A ratio for Xtreme Gaming.

BetBoom Team earned a 39-minute victory on red before PlayTime produced back-to-back wins on green in 73 minutes and 34 minutes. Maximo “Wits” Orozco Alza of powered all-Peruvian PlayTime with a 23-12-31 K-D-A ratio. Russia’s Danil “gpk” Skutin amassed a 39-16-29 K-D-A ratio for BetBoom Team.
