FlyQuest swept Sentinels 3-0 on Sunday as the upper-bracket quarterfinals concluded at the League Championship Series Summer Split.
The LCS Summer Split is an eight-team event that began July 25 and will run through the finals in October. A seven-week round-robin regular season — in which all teams played each other once in a best-of-three match — set the field for the six-team playoffs.
The top two teams in the regular season — LYON and Team Liquid — advanced to the playoff semifinals, while the third- through sixth-place teams advanced to the quarters. The bottom two teams in the standings were eliminated.
Cloud9, the third-place team in the regular season, downed Shopify Rebellion, the sixth-place squad, 3-0 on Saturday in the upper-bracket quarterfinals.
FlyQuest, the fifth-place team, won every map on blue in downing the fourth-place Sentinels on Sunday. FlyQuest won in 33, 36 and 31 minutes. Fahad “Massu” Abdulmalek of Canada and Iraq paced FlyQuest with a 23/6/21 kill/death/assist ratio.
Johnson “Gryffinn” Le of the United States and Song “Quad” Soo-hyung of South Korea each had 10 kills and a plus-7 K/D ratio, while Turkey’s Ibrahim “GaKGos” Samet Bulut had an 11/5/28 K/D/A and was selected the MVP.
Cho “Rahel” Min-seong of South Korea had nine kills and a plus-2 ratio for Sentinels.
