G2 Esports and MIBR swept their way into the semifinals at the $1 million FISSURE Playground #3 in Suzhou, China.
G2 took down FURIA and MIBR knocked out Alliance in Friday’s quarterfinals.
Next for G2 is Group A winner BetBoom Team, and MIBR will meet Group B winner Legacy in Saturday’s semifinals.
The Counter-Strike 2 event began Tuesday with 16 teams competing in two groups in a double-elimination format. All matches are best-of-three except Sunday’s best-of-five grand final. The winning team will earn $300,000 — $165,000 for the player prize and $135,000 for the team share.
On Friday, G2 outlasted FURIA 16-14 on Ancient and cruised to a 13-3 win on Dust II. Israeli-Ukrainian rifler Nikita “HeavyGod” Martynenko led the winners with 42 kills.
MIBR defeated Alliance with a 13-4 win on Inferno and a 13-9 decision on Cache. Brazilian AWPer Lucas “nqz” Soares anchored MIBR with a match-high 35 kills.
