Liquid, Falcons eke out opening wins at DreamLeague Season 27

Team Liquid and Team Falcons were the only sides that pulled out three-map wins on Wednesday as the DreamLeague Season 27 got underway.

The $1 million Dota 2 event features 24 teams starting in a Swiss System group stage. All matches are best-of-three, with the top eight teams advancing to the double-elimination playoffs, which run from Dec. 17-21.

Playoff matches will all be best-of-three ahead of the best-of-five grand final.

The championship team will receive $200,000 in prize money and a $30,000 club reward. The runner-up side will get $125,000 and a $25,000 club reward.

On Wednesday, Team Nemesis opened with a 61-minute win on red before Team Liquid prevailed in 30 minutes on red. Liquid took the decisive third map in 33 minutes on green.

Poland’s Michal “Nisha” Jankowski compiled a 30/8/52 kill-death-assist ratio for Team Liquid. Thailand’s Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon wound up at 20/17/22 for Team Nemesis.

Team Falcons sandwiched 31-minute and 25-minute victories on red around a 37-minute loss on red against Passion UA. Jordan’s Ammar “ATF” Al-Assaf amassed a 21/7/18 K-D-A ratio for Team Falcons. Volodymyr “Moonlight” Bilous ended up at 18/11/19 for all-Ukrainian Passion UA.
