UConn women's basketball coach Geno Auriemma will have a medical procedure Wednesday and could miss the No. 2 Huskies' game Sunday against Oklahoma.

The procedure involves the 65-year-old Hall of Famer's small intestine and is to alleviate symptoms of diverticulitis. "A short stay in the hospital and quick recovery are expected," read a statement released by the school on Tuesday.

"I'll wait and see what the doctors say and how much time I need," Auriemma told the Manchester Journal-Inquirer on Monday following an 84-74 victory against No. 16 DePaul in Chicago.

After facing the Sooners (6-4) in the Hall of Fame Showcase at Mohegan Sun Arena, the Huskies (9-0) do not play again until Jan. 2.

Associate head coach Chris Dailey would take over if Auriemma can't go. In the nine games Auriemma has missed during his 35 seasons in Storrs, Dailey has a perfect 9-0 record.

Auriemma has guided the Huskies to 11 national championships, most recently in 2016. The eight-time Naismith national Coach of the Year was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2006.
