Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Adolis Garcia will undergo right latissimus dorsi surgery and miss the rest of the season, the team said Thursday.

Garcia will undergo the surgery next Wednesday. The recovery time is projected to be six to eight months, which would make him a full go for the start of the 2027 season.

Garcia last played for the Phillies on June 10 when he exited a game against the Toronto Blue Jays after making a throw home from right field.

Garcia, 33, was batting just .195 with seven homers and 21 RBIs in 67 games. He was signed to a one-year, $10 million deal in the offseason by Philadelphia.

He spent the previous six seasons with the Rangers and was a postseason hero when Texas ripped through the 2023 playoffs to win the World Series. Garcia batted .323 and slugged .726 in 15 postseason games and had eight homers and 22 RBIs.

He was named American League Championship Series MVP due to smacking five homers and driving in 15 runs, including going 4-for-5 with two homers, five RBIs and three runs in the decisive Game 7 against the Houston Astros.

Garcia also had a homer in the World Series against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The two-time All-Star twice topped 30 homers and twice had more than 100 RBIs during his tenure with Texas. Garcia also had a brief spell with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2018.

Garcia is a career .234 hitter with 148 home runs and 480 RBIs in 833 games.

Philadelphia also promoted right-handers Seth Johnson and Bryse Wilson from Triple-A Lehigh Valley and optioned left-hander Tanner Banks and right-hander Andrew Painter to the same affiliate.

Johnson, 27, had a 7.36 ERA in three appearances for the Phillies earlier this season, while the 28-year-old Wilson is 20-23 with a 4.82 ERA in 163 appearances (57 starts) across eight seasons with four major league teams.

Banks, 34, was 0-4 with a 5.86 ERA in 26 appearances (one start) for the Phillies and the 23-year-old Painter was 1-8 with a 7.06 ERA in 14 appearances (12 starts).
