No. 12 seed Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine reached the Wimbledon quarterfinals for the first time with a 6-4, 6-4 victory against Ashlyn Krueger on Monday.

Kostyuk fell behind 4-2 in the second set before delivering back-to-back service breaks, setting up a meeting against No. 13 Jasmine Paolini of Italy at the All England Club.

Kostyuk finished with a 22-10 advantage in winners and made only 13 unforced errors, compared to 29 for Krueger. Kostyuk, 24, converted four of 10 break points as she continues her quest for her first Grand Slam title.

Paolini was pushed to a third set in her fourth-round match with No. 29 Alexandra Eala of the Philippines, prevailing 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. She secured the pivotal service break in the eighth game of the decisive set and served out the match.

Paolini, 30, who is also seeking her maiden Grand Slam, had more unforced errors (42-28) but also more winners (38-25) than Eala. Paolini saved seven of 10 break points and converted four or nine break chances.

Paolini, a finalist in 2024, became the first Italian woman with multiple quarterfinal appearances at Wimbledon.

“Stepping on this court is something special, and I was looking forward to it,” Paolini said in her on-court interview at Centre Court. “Here there is an amazing atmosphere. It’s something else to play tennis here, you know, and I feel so lucky to have this opportunity.”

No. 25 seed Elise Mertens of Belgium was a 6-4, 6-4 winner against No. 21 Marie Bouzkova of the Czech Republic.

Mertens, 30, saved 10 of 13 break points and posted a 24-15 edge in winners against Bouzkova, who double-faulted six times and saved only three of eight break points.

Mertens reached the quarterfinals of the grass-court major for the first time and will meet No. 9 Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic, who defeated No. 26 Madison Keys 6-4, 7-6 (2).

Noskova, 21, reached the final eight of a Grand Slam for just the second time, having lost in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Australian Open.

Keys struck nine aces and had a 25-21 edge in winners but also committed 30 unforced errors (to 18 for Noskova) and converted only one of six break points.

Keys battled back and forced a tiebreak after dropping the first three games of the second set. Noskova then swept the first four points of the tiebreak to take control.
