Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs said Monday that “only time will tell” how long his hold-in lasts at training camp.

Gibbs, 24, missed his fifth consecutive practice Monday as he continues to seek a long-term contract this offseason.

The three-time Pro Bowl selection was spotted on the sidelines for the second straight day, chatting with teammates between drills.

In a brief exchange with reporters, Gibbs said, “it’s not about that,” when asked if he needs a new deal before he gets back on the field.

Bijan Robinson has also taken the “hold in” stance with the Falcons, who exercised his fifth-year option before the 2026 draft. Robinson led the NFL in all-purpose yards (2,298). The Falcons selected Robinson eighth overall in the 2023 draft, five picks before Gibbs went at No. 12 to the Lions.

Colts running back Jonathan Taylor is practicing with Indianapolis as he enters the final season of a three-year, $42 million contract. Taylor voiced confidence and trust in the Colts getting a deal done before the season begins not long after CEO Carlie Irsay-Gordon said she would “love it if he would be a Colt for life.”

Gibbs is headed into his fourth NFL season and is due a $1.1 million base salary and a $2 million roster bonus. In April, the team picked up the fifth-year option on his rookie contract that will pay him a guaranteed $14.29 million in 2027.

Gibbs has racked up 5,029 yards from scrimmage with 49 touchdowns in 49 games (24 starts) across his first three seasons.

Last season, Gibbs started all 17 games and rushed for 1,223 yards with 13 touchdowns. As a receiver, he set career highs across the board with 77 catches for 616 yards and five scores.
