Miami rewarded men’s basketball coach Jai Lucas with a new five-year contract, multiple outlets reported on Wednesday.
Terms of the extension were not disclosed but it reportedly came with a raise. Lucas, 37, had four years remaining on his original five-year deal.
After inheriting a team with zero returning players, Lucas sparked the Hurricanes to an NCAA record-tying 19-win improvement in 2025-26.
Led by four impact transfers and two top-50 recruits, Miami finished 26-9 (13-5 Atlantic Coast Conference) and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Lucas previously worked as an assistant coach at Duke (2022-25), Kentucky (2020-22) and Texas (2016-20).
