Bryson Stott slapped a three-run homer to cap a seven-run fifth inning, and Alec Bohm delivered a career-high five hits for the Philadelphia Phillies in a 9-1 win against the Minnesota Twins on Saturday night in Minneapolis.
Bryce Harper contributed two hits and scored a run, and Edmundo Sosa and J. T. Realmuto drove in two runs each for Philadelphia, which won the opener of the three-game series, 7-1, on Thursday night in the Field of Dreams game in Dyersville, Iowa, ending a two-game skid.
Phillies left-hander Jesus Luzardo (11-5) went 6 2/3 innings, allowing one run and scattering seven hits while striking out nine and walking two.
Luke Keaschall had two hits on his 24th birthday and Kaelen Culpepper also had two hits for the Twins, who fell to 4-9 this month.
Minnesota rookie left-hander Connor Prielipp (3-6) was tagged for a season-high eight runs and eight hits in five innings. He struck out six and walked four.
The Phillies loaded the bases with no outs in the second, but only scratched across one run on a sacrifice fly by Realmuto for a 1-0 lead.
They exploded for seven runs with two outs in the fifth, however.
Prielipp gave up a leadoff single to Realmuto to start the inning, got the next two outs, but walked three straight to force in a run and make it 2-0.
Bohm hit a hard single up the middle to score another, and Sosa followed with a one-hopper through the left side to score two more runs and make it 5-0.
Next up was Stott, who lined a three-run homer off the foul pole in right for an 8-0 lead.
The Twins broke the shutout when Royce Lewis doubled off the top of the left-field wall in the sixth to drive in Ryan Jeffers and cut it to 8-1.
Realmuto delivered his second sacrifice fly of the game in the ninth to make it 9-1.
Phillies shortstop Trea Turner limped off in the eighth after fouling a pitch off his right knee.
