Idan Toklomati scored the go-ahead goal late in the second half as visiting Charlotte FC rallied for a 2-1 win against CF Montreal on Wednesday.

Charlotte (11-7-6, 39 points) extended its unbeaten run to six games (4-0-2).

Montreal (5-13-6, 21 points) remained winless in its past four and has earned just one win in its last 12 MLS games.

Toklomati gave Charlotte its first lead in the 81st minute. David Schnegg came down the left side and sent the ball from outside the box toward the 22-year-old at the top of the goal mouth for the tap-in.

Montreal controlled the ball early, owning nearly 70% of the possession through the first 11 minutes of the opening half.

Alexis Sanchez led the way with several opportunities of his own in addition to creating for others. In the eighth minute, he sent a long feed to Dante Sealy low on the left side of the box for a chance that grazed the outside of the net. Six minutes later, goalkeeper Kristijan Kahlina snared Wiki Carmona’s attempt from distance (set up by Sanchez) to keep the game scoreless.

Charlotte started to find its game as the half progressed. In the 16th minute, Liel Abada directed a cross toward the six-yard box for Archie Goodwin for a header, but Montreal goalkeeper Sebastian Breza got his hands out to punch the ball away.

That spurred the visitors into more time in the attacking third, but it was the hosts who ultimately opened the scoring.

Daniel Rios gave Montreal fans who braved the heavy rain reason to celebrate in the 34th minute. Matty Longstaff received a pass off his chest and fed it to Luca Petrasso, who then sent over to Rios above the goal area for a header that beat Kahlina on the right side for a 1-0 lead.

Charlotte pulled level three minutes later. Allan Saint-Maximin cut to the middle before dishing the ball to Liel Abada, who roofed a quick strike over Breza from low on the right side of the box.
