Kyle Larson will be rolling out a throwback paint job to honor the late Kyle Busch for the NASCAR Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Oct. 4.

The No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet will boast a yellow and blue paint scheme with red trim based on Busch’s 2007 palette, which included sponsors Carquest and Kellogg’s.

Larson’s tribute will feature the same scheme with a difference in sponsorship; he’ll stick with his usual Hendrickcars.com.

Busch won his last race under that design in 2007 at the Car of Tomorrow race at Bristol.

“Yeah, to me, it was important to run a Kyle Busch tribute scheme because we shared the same number and I really looked up to him just from the good battles we had,” Larson said. “He’s just, to me, the best driver I’ve gotten to compete with in stock cars. So, for me and our team to be able to honor Kyle Busch and take this scheme on our Cup car to Las Vegas in the fall is going to be really special.”

Las Vegas was Busch’s birthplace and his home track. His lone Cup win there came in 2009.

A portion of the sales of merchandise related to the throwback paint job will support the Busch family’s Bundle of Joy Fund, which assists couples struggling with infertility.

This is the second paint scheme to honor Busch this season, after Ty Gibbs and Joe Gibbs Racing will recognize Busch at Bristol Motor Speedway next week with an M&M’s theme.
