The Buffalo Sabres signed forward Noah Ostlund to an eight-year extension on Monday worth $6.6 million per season.

Ostlund, 22, recorded 27 points (11 goals, 16 assists) in 60 games during his rookie campaign in 2025-26.

The 2022 first-round draft pick (16th overall) played in eight games for Buffalo with no points in the 2024-25 season.

“He’s a coach’s dream, because those are the type of players you don’t really have to coach,” Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff said of Ostlund in April. “He pretty well knows where he’s going almost every time. Very few times in the D zone does he get out of position.”

Ostlund now is one of 10 Buffalo players locked up through at least the 2029-30 season.

The deal comes just ahead of Tuesday’s deadline for teams to sign their players to eight-year deals. The maximum will change to seven years under the new collective bargaining agreement.
