The Baltimore Orioles placed infielder Jackson Holliday on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with left wrist inflammation.

The move is retroactive to Sept. 15, hence Holliday could return for the final two regular season games on Sept. 26-27.

The club recalled infielder Jose Barrero from Triple-A Norfolk. Barrero has played in parts of five seasons and 161 games with the Cincinnati Reds (2020-23) and St. Louis Cardinals (2025).

Holliday started and played all nine innings at second base for the Orioles against the New York Mets on Monday and went 2-for-4 with a run scored. He did not play on Tuesday.

Orioles manager Craig Albernaz told the media before the series finale with the Mets that Holliday was “banged up” and “feeling it the past couple days.”

The 22-year-old Holliday was hitting .229 with seven home runs and 30 RBIs in 98 games. In his first full season in the majors last year, he hit .242 with 17 home runs, 21 doubles and 55 RBIs in 149 games.

Holliday suffered a broken hamate bone in his right hand while taking batting practice early in spring training. He began the season on the IL after undergoing surgery and did not make his 2026 season debut until May 19.

Barrero, 28, has a batting average of .182 with five home runs and 35 RBI’s in 478 plate appearances.

The Orioles signed Barrero to a minor league deal in July 2025 and re-signed him after the 2025 concluded. This season, he was hitting .202 with 23 home runs and 57 RBIs in 124 games with Norfolk.
