Novak Djokovic remains unbeatable in Beijing.

The Serbian great moved to 32-0 at the China Open on Sunday, coming from a set down to defeat No. 1 seed Alexander Zverev of Germany 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. Djokovic now has reached his seventh semifinal in Beijing.

Djokovic, 39, has won 24 Grand Slam titles compared to two for Zverev, but this has been a career year for the 29-year-old German. He won the championships at both the French and U.S. opens this season. For Djokovic, the sixth seed, the win was his second against a player ranked in the top two in the world.

Trying to break the Djokovic streak in Beijing will be Russian Daniil Medvedev, who defeated Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina 7-6 (4), 6-3. Medvedev, the third seed, was aided by 10 aces.

Australian Alex deMinaur, the fifth seed, and Hubert Hurkacz of Poland will meet in the other semifinal. deMinaur defeated Russian Andrey Rublev 1-6, 6-2, 6-3, while Hurkacz ousted another Russian, Karen Khachanov, 7-6 (2), 6-2.

Japan Open

Top seed Carlos Alcaraz advanced to the semifinal round after the retirement of Canada’s Denis Shapovalov in Tokyo.

Shapovalov pushed Alcaraz to the brink in the first set, cashing in on three of four break chances and forcing the Spaniard to fight off a set point before the match moved to a tiebreaker. Alcaraz was up 7-6 (3), 2-1 when Shapovalov was forced to retire with what appeared to be a hip injury.

Alcaraz, the defending champion at the ATP 500 event, now has won eight consecutive matches in the tournament. In the semifinals, he will face Spanish qualifier Jaume Munar, who moved on after defeating Frenchman Kyrian Jacquet 6-4, 6-2.

Valentin Vacherot of Monaco, the eighth seed, used 14 aces to help him defeat Arthur Fils of France 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 to advance to the second semifinal. He will meet Jiri Lehecka in the semifinals after the Czech defeated Adolfo Daniel Vallejo of Paraguay 6-1, 6-1 in 59 minutes.
