After sweeping their way through group play earlier this month, Team Yandex and Team Spirit on Saturday swept their way into the grand final of the PARI Universe event.
The $250,000, 10-team Dota 2 event began with a round-robin group stage, with all matches best-of-three. The top four teams in each group qualified for the double-elimination playoffs, with the last-place team in each group eliminated.
The playoffs consisted of best-of-three matches until the best-of-five grand final on Sunday. The championship team will receive $45,000 for the club, $80,000 for the players.
In the upper-bracket final, Team Yandex posted 38-minute and 53-minute wins — both times on Dire — to sweep GamerLegion and advance to the grand final. Russia’s Ilya “CHIRA_JUNIOR” Chirtsov paced Team Yandex with a kill-death-ratio of 26-13-30. For GamerLegion, American-Filipino player Francis “RCY” Fundemera led the way with an 18-9-24 K-D-A ratio.
GamerLegion did not fare any better in the lower-bracket final as Team Spirit notched back-to-back wins on Dire in 56 minutes and 47 minutes to reach the grand final. Ukraine’s Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk delivered a K-D-A ratio of 22-3-14 to help Team Spirit prevail. GamerLegion’s Fundemera produced a 14-10-18 K-D-A ratio.
