Mike Tyson ends workout video with ‘I’m back’

Mike Tyson channeled his inner Michael Jordan by uttering a familiar refrain: “I’m back.”

Tyson, the former world heavyweight boxer champion, concluded an intense workout video on Instagram with those two words.

“It may not be over yet. Anything’s possible. I feel unstoppable now,” Tyson, 53, said of a potential return to the ring last week, via MLive.com. “The gods of war have reawakened me, ignited my ego and want me to go to war again. I feel like I’m (young) again.”

A comeback offer reportedly is coming his way, Melbourne-based Brian Amatruda told the Daily Mail newspaper last week. Amatruda would like to match up Tyson with either former Australian rules football player Barry Hall or one of two former rugby players, Paul Gallen and Sonny Bill Williams.

“I’d hold it at Melbourne Arena where we’d get over 10,000 or even Princes Park where they got 30,000 for Jeff Fenech versus Azumah Nelson,” Amatruda said. “He might be 53 years old, but he’s still a huge name and any of those blokes Hall, Gallen or Sonny Bill would jump at the chance to get into the ring with him.”

Tyson said recently in an Instagram Live chat with rapper T.I., “I’ve been hitting the mitts for the last week. That’s been tough, my body is really jacked up and really sore from hitting the mitts.

“I’ve been working out, I’ve been trying to get in the ring, I think I’m going to box some exhibitions and get in shape. I want to go to the gym and get in shape to be able to box three- or four-round exhibitions for some charities and stuff.

“Some charity exhibitions, make some money, help some homeless and drug-affected (expletive) like me.”

Tyson owns a 50-6 record, with his most recent bout a loss to Kevin McBride in 2005.

Jordan famously sent a fax with the words “I’m back” to announce his return from minor league baseball to the Chicago Bulls in 1995.
