Bryce Harper collected three doubles and a home run, Kyle Schwarber belted his 29th homer of the season, left-hander Jesus Luzardo threw seven shutout innings and the Philadelphia Phillies salvaged one win in their three-game road series against the San Francisco Giants with a 13-0 shellacking Wednesday afternoon.

J.T. Realmuto had a double, two singles, two RBIs and two runs scored, while Alec Bohm and Nick Castellanos each had two hits and scored twice, helping the Phillies rebound from a potentially demoralizing walk-off loss on a game-ending, inside-the-park home run Tuesday night.

Harper homered off Justin Verlander (0-7) in the fourth inning, then doubled in the sixth and twice in a seven-run eighth, highlighting a 17-hit attack. The homer was his 10th of the season.

Harper had a chance to pad his numbers when he came to the plate against Mike Yastrzemski with two on and two out in the ninth, but fouled out to third base to complete a 4-for-6 day with one RBI and three runs scored. The four-hit game was his first of the season, while the three-double effort was just the 10th in the majors this year.

The last time someone had a homer and three doubles in the same game was last July, when Vladimir Guerrero Jr. did it against the Baltimore Orioles. No member of the Phillies had accomplished the feat since Aaron Rowand in July of 2007.

Verlander was denied a win for the 15th consecutive start this season, but didn’t pitch as poorly as the final score might indicate. He allowed four runs and seven hits in six innings, but only two of the runs were earned. He didn’t walk anybody and struck out seven.

Seeking a fifth consecutive win, the Giants trailed just 4-0 until the eighth, when Schwarber’s three-run homer capped a 12-batter inning.

Luzardo (8-5), bombed for six runs (five earned) in two innings in his previous start against the Cincinnati Reds, limited the Giants to three singles in his seven innings. He walked one and struck out seven.

Seth Johnson and Joe Ross added a single scoreless inning apiece to complete Philadelphia’s ninth shutout of the season.

Brandon Marsh was a fifth Phillie with multiple hits with a pair of singles as the visitors equalled their season high for runs en route to their third win in seven games against the Giants this year.

Wilmer Flores had two of San Francisco’s four hits – both singles.
