Charles McAdoo doubled in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning Saturday afternoon, and the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the visiting New York Yankees 4-1.

McAdoo also had an RBI single in the two-run eighth as Toronto clinched the three-game series by winning the first two.

Spencer Miles (5-2) pitched around a single with the aid of a caught stealing in the seventh to pick up the win.

Louis Varland struck out the side in the ninth to earn his 28th save.

Brent Headrick (6-2) allowed one run in the seventh to take the loss.

Toronto opener Braydon Fisher worked around a walk in the first. Ricky Tiedemann replaced him in the second to make his major league debut and was greeted by Spencer Jones’ single. Jones stole second and scored on George Lombard Jr.’s single to left.

Toronto tied the game in the third against Cam Schlittler. Brett Bateman led off with a walk, took second on Nathan Lukes’ single to left and scored when Alejandro Kirk grounded a single up the middle off the glove of second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr.

Toronto reliever Simeon Woods Richarson pitched 2 1/3 hitless innings before Mason Fluharty took over to pitch a perfect sixth.

Schlittler was replaced with one out in the sixth by Headrick after Jesus Sanchez walked and Kazuma Okamoto singled. The inning ended on a strikeout and a fielder’s choice grounder.

Schlittler allowed one run, four hits and three walks with seven strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings.

Pinch hitter Ernie Clement led off the home seventh with a single against Headrick. He scored on McAdoo’s double to left center. Bateman bunted for a single to put runners at the corners. McAdoo held third on Nathan Lukes’ sacrifice bunt that moved Bateman to second. Paul Blackburn replaced Headrick to finish the inning after an intentional walk to Kirk.

Toronto’s Tyler Rogers pitched around a single in the eighth.

Toronto scored twice in the eighth against Tim Hill on McAdoo’s RBI single and Lukes’ RBI groundout.

Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was put on the seven-day concussion injured list. He was injured in a collision at third base on Friday. Daz Cameron was promoted to take his place.
