Alex Bregman and Seiya Suzuki each had two hits including a solo home run and the Chicago Cubs held on to beat the Nationals 8-6 on Tuesday in Washington.

Pete Crow-Armstrong also homered for Chicago, which has won seven of eight. Bregman drew a walk and scored three runs.

CJ Abrams, Jacob Young and Dylan Crews homered for Washington, which had won three straight. Brady House had three hits and a walk and scored twice.

Ryan Rolison (7-1) pitched 1 1/3 scoreless relief innings for the win, and Jacob Webb got the final four outs for his eighth save. Starter Shota Imanaga allowed four runs on six hits over 4 2/3 innings, with five strikeouts and no walks.

Washington starter Jake Irvin (2-6) gave up five runs on four hits in 3 1/3 innings. He fanned four and walked two.

With the Nationals trailing 8-4, House drew a walk from Ryan Zeferjahn leading off the eighth. With one out, Harry Ford doubled House to third. Pinch hitter Jorbit Vivas hit a liner to left and Ian Happ made a diving effort. The initial call was a catch, with House scoring from third. Washington challenged and the call was overturned with Vivas safe on an RBI single.

Nasim Nunez lined a two-out single, scoring Ford to make it 8-6 before Webb retired Jose Tena on a comebacker.

The Nationals took a 2-0 lead in the first when House singled with two outs and Abrams homered.

Chicago pulled within 2-1 in the second when Bregman walked, went to third on Happ’s single and scored on Nico Hoerner’s sacrifice fly.

Young homered leading off the bottom half to push the lead to 3-1.

Crow-Armstrong’s 27th homer of the season, opening the third, made it 3-2.

Chicago pulled ahead in the fourth. Happ walked and went to third on Hoerner’s double. Michael Conforto’s sacrifice fly scored Happ with the tying run. Carson Kelly hit a slow roller to second, and Hoerner beat the throw home. Dansby Swanson was hit by a pitch, ending Irvin’s night.

After Tom Cosgrove fanned Crow-Armstrong, Suzuki doubled to left, scoring Kelly to make it 5-3.

In the fifth, the Cubs loaded the bases with two singles and a walk, and Swanson walked to force in a run.

Crews homered in the bottom half to pull the Nationals within 6-4.

Bregman’s sixth-inning homer and Suzuki’s eighth-inning blast extended the margin.
