Elly De La Cruz scored the go-ahead run on Tyler Stephenson’s sacrifice fly in the eighth inning, lifting the visiting Cincinnati Reds to a 4-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday afternoon.

Cincinnati’s Eugenio Suarez launched a three-run homer in the sixth inning, marking his second homer in as many games.

De La Cruz singled off Abner Uribe (5-3) to lead off the eighth inning and advanced to third on rookie Sal Stewart’s base hit. Stephenson stepped up two batters later and lofted a sacrifice fly to right field to plate De La Cruz to give the Reds a 4-3 lead.

De La Cruz and Stewart each had two of the Reds’ eight hits to help the Reds (70-79) salvage the finale of a 1-5 road trip.

Brandon Williamson (4-4) allowed one run on two hits in four innings in relief of Chase Burns. Brock Burke bridged the gap to Emilio Pagan, who retired the side in the ninth inning to secure his 23rd save of the season.

Joey Ortiz belted a two-run homer in the second inning and Jake Bauers went deep to lead off the seventh for the Brewers (93-57), who saw their five-game winning streak come to a halt.

Milwaukee starter Robert Gasser allowed his third hit with a leadoff single to De La Cruz in the sixth inning. Antonio Senzatela relieved Gasser and permitted a single to rookie Sal Stewart before seeing Suarez deposit a 0-1 sinker over the wall in right-center field to stake Cincinnati to a 3-2 lead. Suarez’s homer was his 24th of the season.

Bauers sent a 1-0 fastball from Williamson over the wall in right-center field to forge a 3-3 tie. Bauers’ homer was his 26th of the season and third in his last six games.

Christian Yelich worked a one-out walk in the second inning before Ortiz deposited a 2-1 fastball from Burns over the wall in center field to open the scoring. The homer was Ortiz’s ninth of the season.

Uribe permitted one run on two hits in one inning.
