Garrett Mitchell had two doubles, a home run and three RBIs for the Milwaukee Brewers in a 7-4 win against the visiting Seattle Mariners in the rubber game of their three-game series on Thursday afternoon.

Gary Sanchez drove in two runs and David Hamilton had two singles and an RBI for the Brewers, who have won four of five and own the best record in MLB at 79-49.

Brewers left-hander Robert Gasser couldn’t take advantage of an early six-run cushion and departed after allowing four runs and four hits in 3 2/3 innings. He struck out four and walked four.

Chad Patrick (7-4) and Aaron Ashby combined for 4 1/3 innings of scoreless relief before Trevor Megill pitched the ninth for his 23rd save of the season.

Mariners starter George Kirby (8-10) was roughed up for six runs, all in the first inning, and nine hits in 3 1/3 frames. He struck out three and walked two.

Brendan Donovan had two hits and two RBIs for the Mariners, who had won three of four.

Sanchez began the first-inning scoring with a two-run double into the left field corner.

After Christian Yelich singled to put runners on the corners, Sanchez scored on a ground-ball single through the open right side by Joey Ortiz to make it 3-0.

Mitchell followed with another two-run double before Hamilton collected the fifth straight one-out hit, a double to right that scored Mitchell for a 6-0 lead.

The Mariners got two runs back in the second.

Donovan came up with runners on first and second and two outs and hit a line drive barely over the head of second baseman Brice Turang. The ball got through to the wall, scoring both runners to cut it to 6-2.

Seattle chased Gasser in the fourth before further trimming the deficit.

After a run scored on a passed ball, Dominic Canzone drove in another with a two-out single off Patrick to center to cut it to 6-4.

Mitchell gave Milwaukee some insurance with a solo home run to center in the eighth to make it 7-4.
