Kerry Carpenter and Spencer Torkelson hit two-run homers and the host Detroit Tigers extended their winning streak to four games with a 7-3 win over the Seattle Mariners on Friday.

Gleyber Torres had three hits and drove in two runs while Riley Greene added two hits and scored a run. Framber Valdez (3-4) gave up one run and five hits in five innings while picking up the victory. A quartet of relievers finished the game.

Colt Emerson hit a solo homer for the Mariners, who have lost two straight after an eight-game winning streak.

Seattle shortstop J.P. Crawford departed in the third inning after getting hit by a Valdez pitch.

Bryan Woo (5-4) was charged with five runs and nine hits in 6 1/3 innings.

The Mariners grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first. Crawford and Julie Rodriguez hit back-to-back singles to lead off the contest. After Valdez struck out the next two batters, Rob Refsnyder drove in Crawford with a single.

The Tigers scored three runs in the third. Torres and Kevin McGonigle had consecutive singles with one out. Dillon Dingler hit into a fielder’s choice which allowed Torres to score. Carpenter then jumped on a Woo slider and drove it over the right field wall for eighth home run of the season.

Rodriguez and Randy Arozarena drew two-out walks in the fifth and pulled off a double steal. Valdez responded by retiring Josh Naylor on a grounder.

Emerson blasted his homer to make it 3-2 in the seventh. He smacked a Drew Anderson fastball to the opposite field for his fourth homer.

Detroit then made it 5-2 in the bottom of the inning. Colt Keith, Zach McKinstry and Zack Short singled with one out to load the bases. Eduard Bazardo replaced Woo and promptly gave up Torres’ double to right that knocked in two runs.

Seattle rallied in the eighth against Tyler Holton. Naylor led off with a ground rule double and Mitch Garver drove him in with a single.

Torkelson homered with Greene on in the eighth.
