Luis Torrens belted a three-run homer and drove in four runs while Bo Bichette and Carson Benge added solo shots as the visiting New York Mets beat the Cleveland Guardians 6-2 on Tuesday.

Torrens went deep in the second inning and Bichette homered in the third, both off Joey Cantillo (8-7) as the Mets seized a 4-0 lead.

Benge added a 451-foot blast to straightaway center field in the eighth against Slade Cecconi to close out the scoring in the opener of a three-game interleague series.

New York starter Sean Manaea (3-5) beat Cleveland for the first time in nine years, working six innings and giving up two runs on seven hits. The left-hander struck out seven and matched his career high with five walks.

Angel Martinez had an RBI double and Travis Bazzana singled in a run for Cleveland. The Guardians have lost nine of 12 since July 22.

Benge’s homer was the longest in Cleveland this season and matched the longest hit by a New York player in 2026.

Torrens collected a season-high three hits while helping the Mets snap a three-game losing streak. Nate Lavender made his major league debut and threw 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Jo Adell went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run in his Guardians debut, one day after being acquired from the Los Angeles Angels. Nathaniel Lowe, who came to Cleveland later Monday from the Cincinnati Reds, came off the bench and went hitless in two at-bats.

Cantillo took his third straight loss, allowing five runs — three of them unearned thanks to an error by third baseman Gabriel Arias — on seven hits in five innings. The left-hander struck out five and walked two.

Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez was unavailable because of inflammation in his surgically repaired left wrist. The seven-time All-Star missed five weeks after breaking his hamate bone, returning to action on July 22.

The Mets, who began a nine-game road trip, had dropped six straight to the Guardians. Their previous win in the series occurred on May 21, 2023. New York hadn’t won a game in Cleveland since April 16, 2016.
