Xavier Edwards went 3-for-5 with an RBI single, Kyle Stowers drove in two runs and the visiting Miami Marlins beat the St. Louis Cardinals 5-1 on Saturday for their fourth straight victory.

Javier Sanoja had three hits, an RBI and two stolen bases for Miami, which improved to a major league-best 18-5 in June. Otto Lopez added a triple and an RBI single.

Marlins starter Ryan Gusto tossed 3 1/3 scoreless innings before giving way to John King (6-1), who threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings against his former team.

The Marlins outhit St. Louis 13-7 and won for the eighth time in their last nine games.

Masyn Winn singled in a run and JJ Wetherholt and Lars Nootbaar had two hits apiece for the Cardinals, who have lost four straight and seven of their last nine.

Miami claimed the lead against Andre Pallante (9-5) in the first when Lopez tripled and scored on Stowers’ single to right.

Stowers singled in another run in the third. Joe Mack hit a leadoff single and moved to second on Edwards’ bunt single before going to third on a double-play ball and scoring on Stowers’ hit.

The Marlins added two runs in the fourth. Jakob Marsee doubled to begin the inning, advanced to third on Griffin Conine’s groundout and scored on Sanoja’s single. Sanoja swiped second and scored on Edwards’ two-out RBI single.

St. Louis was held scoreless until the sixth, when Jordan Walker scored from second on Winn’s one-out single to make it 4-1.

Pallante was replaced by Matt Svanson after Edwards’ two-out double in the seventh. Lopez greeted Svanson with an RBI single to right.

Pallante, who had won his last five decisions, allowed five runs on a career-high 11 hits over 6 2/3 innings. He walked one and struck out four.

St. Louis first baseman Alec Burleson was hit by a pitch in the third to reach base for a career-high 25th consecutive game.
