Matt Olson had two of Atlanta’s six hits, including a tiebreaking homer in the sixth inning, sending the Braves to a 4-3 win over the visiting Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday in the opener of a three-game series.

Olson finished 2-for-4 and improved his RBI total to 46, tied for third in the National League. Ozzie Albies added two hits and two RBIs as the Braves won for the fourth time in five games.

Atlanta starter Bryce Elder (5-3) pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed three runs on six hits and one walk, striking out six to earn his first career victory against Toronto.

Robert Suarez got the final out of the seventh, striking out George Springer with a runner at second base. Suarez then worked a scoreless eighth, getting Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to ground into a double play. He struck out two in 1 1/3 innings.

Raisel Iglesias pitched around a pair of singles to throw a scoreless ninth and earn his 11th save. He has converted 29 consecutive save opportunities since July 28, 2025.

Toronto starter Kevin Gausman (4-4) pitched six innings and allowed four runs on five hits and two walks. He struck out eight. The Blue Jays have lost three in a row.

The Braves struck for two runs in the first inning. Ronald Acuna Jr. worked a walk and scored when Michael Harris II lined a double past center fielder Daulton Varsho. Harris scored on a sacrifice fly from Albies.

The Blue Jays tied it 2-2 in the top of the second on an opposite-field homer to right field by Kazuma Okamoto, his team-leading 13th. The two-out blast followed a double by Yohendrick Pinango.

Atlanta regained the lead in the third. Olson went the other way for a two-out double and scored when Albies singled to left field.

Toronto tied it in the sixth. Nathan Lukes singled, extending his hitting streak to a career-high nine games. Lukes went to third on Guerrero’s double and scored on Varsho’s sacrifice fly.

Atlanta went ahead 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth when Olson hit a solo shot that just cleared the wall in right field. The blast, Olson’s team-best 17th of the season, ended a string of seven straight outs recorded by Gausman.
