Nolan McLean overcame a rough start to toss seven strong innings, lifting the host New York Mets to their first series sweep of the season with a 9-4 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Thursday.

Juan Soto had the go-ahead run-scoring single in the fifth inning and added a homer leading off the seventh.

The Mets overcame multi-run deficits in all three games against the Tigers and have won eight of their last 12 games. That run has come on the heels of a 2-15 tailspin from April 8-30 that included a 12-game losing streak — the longest for the club since the 2002 season.

Gage Workman belted a three-run homer off McLean in the first for the Tigers, who have lost eight of their last nine games. Dillon Dingler homered off Tobias Myers in the eighth.

New York’s comeback bid began when A.J. Ewing recorded the Mets first hit, a homer off Keider Montero (2-3), in the third. Brett Baty and Mark Vientos hit two-run blasts in the fourth and fifth, respectively.

Hayden Senger laid down a safety squeeze to score Marcus Semien in the sixth, and the latter homered in the eighth.

The five homers were a season high for the Mets, who had just seven homers in their first 11 games this month.

Ewing, Semien, Soto and Carson Benge all had two hits apiece while Benge added a stolen base. The two-hit game was the first for Ewing, who made his big league debut in Tuesday’s 10-2 win.

McLean (2-2) gave up three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out seven. The rookie right-hander allowed just one runner beyond first base after Workman’s homer.

The seven-inning stint was the second of the season for McLean, who also lasted seven innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers on April 14.

Workman and Riley Greene had two hits apiece for the Tigers. Greene hit .500 (6-for-12) with two RBIs during the series.

Montero took the loss after allowing four runs on four hits and two walks while striking out two over 4 2/3 innings.
