The New York Yankees acquired left fielder Heliot Ramos from the Giants before Monday’s trade deadline, sending left-handed pitching prospect Henry Lalane and minor league infielder Kaeden Kent to San Francisco.
Ramos, 26, was batting .264 with nine home runs and 34 RBIs across 74 games for the Giants this season.
He’s played parts of five seasons with San Francisco since being drafted in the first round (19th overall) by the club in 2017. Ramos is a career .257 batter who’s hit 53 home runs and amassed 177 RBIs over 386 career games. He was an All-Star in 2024 and finished that season with career highs of 22 homers, 72 RBIs and a .269 average.
The Yankees needed help in left field after Cody Bellinger went on the injured list July 26 with a Grade 2 hamstring strain.
Ramos is the second acquisition the Yankees made before the deadline, following lefty-hitting infielder Luis Garcia Jr. from the Washington Nationals in exchange for four pitchers on Sunday.
The 22-year-old Lalane, ranked by MLB Pipeline as the Yankees’ No. 5 prospect, is 4-1 with a 2.77 ERA in 16 games (15 starts) this season between Class-A Tampa and High-A Hudson Valley. In 78 innings, he has 98 strikeouts and 26 walks following two injury-plagued seasons.
Over parts of six seasons in the minors, LaLane is 10-9 with a 3.34 ERA, 258 strikeouts, 92 walks in 60 games (54 starts). The Bronx, N.Y., native signed as an undrafted free agent out of the Dominican Republic in May 2021.
Kent, 22, the son of Hall of Famer Jeff Kent, was a third-round pick of the Yankees in 2025 out of Texas A&M University. The Austin, Texas, native is hitting .302 with six home runs, 20 stolen bases and 43 RBIs at Hudson Valley this season.
Over parts of two minor league seasons, Kent has hit .274 with eight home runs, 20 stolen bases and 60 RBIs in 101 games.
