Connor Norby hit a grand slam and an RBI single, Tanner Gordon pitched seven strong innings and the visiting Colorado Rockies smashed the Washington Nationals 13-1 on Wednesday.

Troy Johnston, Cole Carrigg and Hunter Goodman hit two-run homers for Colorado, which has won its past two games after losing seven straight.

Norby has an 11-game hitting streak and has reached base in all 14 games since being acquired from the Miami Marlins on Aug. 3. The grand slam was the first of his three-season major league career.

Gordon (1-4) turned in his longest and best effort of the season, allowing a run on six hits. He struck out five without a walk.

Andres Chaparro had three hits including a home run for the Nationals, who took their sixth loss in seven games.

Washington reliever Will Dion (1-1) gave up four runs on four hits in 2 2/3 innings. He fanned three and walked two. Starter Matt Waldron pitched two scoreless innings in his Nationals debut.

Norby walked leading off the fifth before Johnston homered to put the Rockies up 2-1. One out later, Jake McCarthy singled and Carrigg homered into the Colorado bullpen in left-center.

Nationals prospect Luis Perales was called up Wednesday and made his major league debut. He pitched two innings, but his outing ended badly.

With one out in the seventh, Goodman and TJ Rumfield singled. After Willi Castro walked to load the bases, Perales struck out Mickey Moniak, but Norby smacked a 2-1 pitch to center, making it 8-1.

Goodman homered for his second straight game since returning from the injured list, boosting the margin to 10-1 in the eighth. Nationals infielder Jorbit Vivas came on to pitch with runners on first and second, and Norby added an RBI single. Ezequiel Tovar followed two batters later with a two-run single to make it 13-1.

Chaparro, starting at third base for the first time in his career, opened the scoring by lining a homer to left leading off the second inning.
