Jake Cave hit a walk-off single with one out and the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th inning, giving the Colorado Rockies an 8-7 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday in Denver.

Cave lined a single to center off Brewers reliever Joel Payamps (1-5) for his first career walk-off hit.

Brenton Doyle had two home runs and a double and three RBIs, Charlie Blackmon celebrated his 38th birthday with a homer and a single and Brendan Rodgers, Nolan Jones and Cave each had two hits and an RBI for Colorado.

Tyler Kinley (4-1) pitched a scoreless top of the 10th to pick up the Rockies’ second straight win.

Rookie Jackson Chourio chipped in with two RBIs while Eric Haase also had two hits for the Brewers, who fell for just the second time in eight games.

The contest was the opener of a four-game series.

The Brewers rallied to take a 7-6 lead with three runs in the eighth. Yelich hit a one-out triple and scored on a single by Adames, who then advanced to third on a pinch-hit single by Sal Frelick. Rhys Hoskins then drove in Adames with a sacrifice fly.

Garrett Mitchell, making his 2024 debut, singled, sending Frelick to second, and Haase then drove in Frelick with a single.

Doyle tied it 7-7 with two outs in the bottom of the eighth with his second homer of the game and ninth of the season, a line drive into the bleachers in right.

Colorado jumped out to a 3-0 lead on a two-run, second-inning homer by Doyle, a 445-foot drive to center, and a third-inning solo shot by Blackmon, a 431-foot drive into the bullpen in right-center.

Milwaukee tied it with three runs on five hits in the fourth, including a two-run single by Chourio and an RBI single by Blake Perkins. Contreras put the Brewers in front 4-3 in the fifth when he hit his 10th home run of the season.

The Rockies regained the lead 5-4 on RBIs by Ryan McMahon and Rodgers in the fifth. They made it 6-4 in the sixth on an RBI double into the gap in left-center by Jones. The hit drove in Doyle, who had doubled.
