Jose Ramirez hit a tiebreaking single in the 11th inning and Estevan Florial followed with a two-run single as the Cleveland Guardians earned a 10-7 road victory over the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday.

The Guardians scored a run in the ninth to force extra innings, and then each team added a run in the 10th. The decisive hits in the 11th came against Josh Winckowski (1-1).

Cleveland’s Emmanuel Clase (1-0) pitched the 10th and was credited with the win. Scott Barlow retired each of the three batters he faced in the bottom of the 11th, striking out the final two, to collect his first save.

Boston received solo home runs from Enmanuel Valdez and Triston Casas plus a two-run homer from Connor Wong. Tyler Freeman hit a solo home run for the Guardians.

Gabriel Arias’ single drove in Brayan Rocchio to give Cleveland a 7-6 lead in the top of the 10th, but Boston tied the game when Wong’s sacrifice fly scored Wilyer Abreu in the bottom half of the inning.

A walk to Ramon Laureano and back-to-back doubles by Will Brennan and Arias handed the Guardians a 2-0 lead in the second. Valdez cut Cleveland’s lead in half when he homered in the fourth, but the Guardians scored three runs in the fifth.

Freeman’s home run gave the Guardians a 3-1 lead. Steven Kwan (3-for-5) followed with a single, took third on an Andres Gimenez single and scored on a sacrifice fly by Ramirez to make it 4-1.

Gimenez accounted for Cleveland’s fifth run when he scored on an error by Abreu while the right fielder was pursuing Josh Naylor’s single. Gimenez was originally called out at the plate, but Cleveland appealed and the call was overturned when it was ruled that Wong was blocking the plate.

Boston erased its 5-1 deficit by scoring five runs in the sixth. The inning included home runs by Casas and Wong before the Red Sox took a 6-5 lead on a two-run double from Rafael Devers, who left the game after the seventh inning due to left knee discomfort.

Cleveland tied the game against Kenley Jansen in the ninth. Freeman doubled with one out, took third on Kwan’s single and scored on a Gimenez single.
