Zac Thornton tossed six scoreless innings and earned his first big-league win Tuesday night as the visiting New York Mets beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-0 in the middle game of a three-game series.

Jared Young and Luis Robert Jr. homered while Carson Benge had an unusual two-run double for the last-place Mets, who have won three of five since the All-Star break against the Brewers and Philadelphia Phillies, each of whom currently occupy a playoff spot.

The Brewers, who were blanked for just the fourth time this season, had their four-game winning streak snapped.

Thornton (1-1) allowed three hits, walked one and struck out two while extending his scoreless streak to 18 innings dating back to June 26. He has a 1.93 ERA in his first four major league starts.

Thornton allowed a leadoff infield single to Jackson Chourio and walked William Contreras with one out before retiring the next 13 batters. Cooper Pratt and Joey Ortiz led off the sixth with singles, but Thornton whiffed Chourio and Pratt was picked off second before Brice Turang flew out to deep left.

Luke Weaver and Brooks Raley each threw a perfect inning before Devin Williams — pitching in Milwaukee for the first time since the Brewers traded him to the New York Yankees following the 2024 season — worked around Jake Bauers’ leadoff single in the ninth.

Young homered in the second inning before Benge extended the lead in the fifth, when he was credited with a double after Turang paused while pursuing his grounder to second. Bo Bichette and Francisco Lindor scored and Benge ended up at second when right fielder Luis Lara threw behind him to first baseman Andrew Vaughn, whose throw sailed into left field.

Robert, making his second appearance since a three-month stint on the IL with a back injury, hit a 451-foot homer in the eighth.

Lindor finished 3-for-4 while Benge, Young and Luis Torrens each had two hits.

Brandon Sproat (3-5), who was dealt to the Brewers by the Mets in the Freddy Peralta trade in January, gave up two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out four over 4 2/3 innings.
