LAFC extend Dynamo’s road woes with 2-0 victory

Dynamo, LAFC

Nathan Ordaz and Jeremy Ebobisse scored goals to lead Los Angeles FC to a solid 2-0 victory over the visiting Houston Dynamo on Saturday night.

Denis Bouanga set up the second goal on his highly active night for Los Angeles FC (5-4-2, 17 points), who stretched their MLS unbeaten streak to four matches (2-0-2).

Hugo Lloris notched his fourth shutout of the season during a quiet outing in which Houston didn’t put a single shot on target. The Dynamo (2-5-4, 10 points) took four shots overall while seeing a four-match (2-0-2) unbeaten streak come to an end.

Houston is winless (0-2-3) in five road matches this season.

The one-sided match surely felt good for LAFC, who had been dominated in recent MLS regular-season play against Houston. LAFC was 0-4-1 in the past five meetings and outscored 8-0.

Los Angeles placed 18 shots with 10 on target during Saturday’s match.

Jonathan Bond made eight saves for the Dynamo.

Bond kept the Dynamo in the match with seven first-half saves. He thwarted Bouanga in the third minute of first-half stoppage time with a stellar stop off the LAFC star’s left-footed blast.

Bouanga took seven shots in the opening half with four of them on target. He didn’t take a single shot in the second half.

Houston took two shots in the first half and two in the second.

LAFC scored in the 10th minute, and the sequence began with Sergi Palencia putting a hard shot on goal. Ordaz got the rebound and tapped it into the net with his left foot.

LAFC dominated play but wouldn’t get another tally until the 79th minute. Timothy Tillman sent a pass out of his own end up ahead to free Bouanga for a two-on-two break with Ebobisse.

Bouanga eventually slid a pass to his right to his teammate. Though the pass was slightly behind him, Ebobisse steadied himself and drilled a left-footed shot past Bond to make it 2-0.
