Orlando City traded homegrown defender Tahir Reid-Brown to St. Louis City on Thursday in exchange for up to $450,000 in general allocation money.

Orlando receives a guaranteed $150,000 in 2027 GAM and up to an additional $300,000 if certain performance-based metrics are met. The Lions also retain a sell-on percentage of any future transfer.

The 20-year-old Orlando native joined the team’s academy in 2020 and signed a first-team contract as a homegrown player in January 2024. Reid-Brown has appeared in nine matches across all competitions.

“Our goal in developing young players is to prepare them for the next level, whether that opportunity is with our club or elsewhere, while also positioning Orlando City for long-term success,” Orlando general manager and sporting director Ricardo Moreira said. “We believe this move accomplishes both, and we wish Tahir all the best in this next chapter of his career.”

Reid-Brown has represented the United States at multiple youth levels, including appearances at the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

“Tahir is a really exciting addition for us, especially from a development standpoint. He has a unique profile and a combination of tools that we believe can translate at the MLS level,” St. Louis sporting director Corey Wray said. “He’s still early in his career but we are excited about the opportunity to help him develop in both our first team and CITY2 environments where he can continue to reach his potential.”
