Mikal Bridges scored 25 points and Jalen Brunson added 24, helping the host New York Knicks halt the San Antonio Spurs’ 11-game winning streak with a 114-89 victory on Sunday afternoon.

Bridges made 10 of 17 shots from the floor and 5 of 9 from 3-point range. He also contributed five rebounds and five steals.

Brunson had seven assists and connected four times from beyond the arc to send the Knicks to their 14th win in 18 games and avenge a 134-132 setback to the Spurs on New Year’s Eve.

Karl-Anthony Towns collected 12 points and 14 rebounds to help New York impose its will on the glass. The Knicks held a 54-41 edge on the boards, including 18-10 on the offensive glass.

Mohamed Diawara scored 14 points off the bench and OG Anunoby had 12 as New York put the game on ice with a lopsided fourth quarter.

San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama recorded 25 points and 13 rebounds on Sunday after finishing with 12 and eight, respectively, in his previous two games. The 7-foot-4 star committed seven of his team’s season-high 22 turnovers, however.

Devin Vassell scored 18 points and Stephon Castle added 13 for the Spurs, who lost for the first time since dropping a 111-106 decision to the Charlotte Hornets on Jan. 31. They also were held to a season-low point total.

San Antonio whittled a 16-point deficit down to nine at 84-75 early in the fourth quarter before New York began to pull away. Anunoby and Josh Hart each drained a 3-pointer and Bridges whipped Madison Square Garden into a frenzy with a dunk in transition as part of a 13-1 run.

The Knicks struggled to find the basket during the early portion of the game before seizing a 36-23 lead on the strength of a 26-2 run that bridged the first and second quarters.

New York extended its advantage to 16 points before settling for a 10-point lead at halftime (51-41).
