Portland Trail Blazers guard Anfernee Simons has agreed to a four-year, $100 million contract extension, ESPN reported.
After fellow guard Damian Lillard’s season was cut short due to abdominal surgery and CJ McCollum was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in late February, Simons took a more active role throughout the season.
He averaged a career-high 29.5 minutes per game in 57 games (30 starts), averaging 17.3 points, shooting 44.3 percent from the field and 40.5 percent from 3-point range.
The 23-year-old was the No. 24 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft and was a backup guard for Portland before becoming the team’s primary ballhandler.
In 211 career games (35 starts), Simons has averaged 10.2 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists.
