Florida’s Alex Condon totaled 19 points and seven rebounds, and the No. 10 Gators handed the Miami Hurricanes their first loss 82-68 on Sunday night in the Jacksonville Hoops Showdown in Jacksonville, Fla.

Condon made 8 of 12, including 2 of 4 from long range, before fouling out with 5:06 left to pace the Gators (3-1), who were 27 of 59 (46%) from the floor.

Thomas Haugh posted 17 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Rueben Chinyelu had 16 points and 12 boards before fouling out at 6:04. Urban Klavzar had 15 points and was 4 of 7 from deep.

A former Florida recruit, Malik Reneau had 22 points and 11 rebounds and fouled out for the Hurricanes (3-1), who were 15 of 27 (56%) at the foul line. Tru Washington scored 16 points. Trey Donaldson had 11 points, four rebounds and six assists.

The Hurricanes put the first points on the board on Washington’s layup inside the first minute, but the Gators took off from there as Condon hit a 3-pointer to spark a 9-0 run that Boogie Fland capped off with a bank shot.

Miami then connected on five straight from the floor, including a trey from Donaldson, for a 13-12 advantage at 13:39.

Florida took a four-point lead on three from the stripe by Klavzar at 12:38, but the game remained tight between the ACC and SEC programs, who were meeting for the first time since 2019.

Condon’s follow-up inside of six minutes to play in the first half made it 26-21 for Florida, but Reneau’s hard-fought putback in the paint cut it to three with 3:58 left. Haugh’s long ball pushed it to 31-23.

A three-point play by Condon, a dunk by Miami’s Ernest Udeh Jr. and Haugh’s second deep shot from the top put the Gators up 39-29 at the half.

Condon led all scorers with 15 points, while Reneau led Miami with 14.

The Hurricanes used a 7-0 run to trim Florida’s 10-point lead, getting it to 44-41 on Washington’s pair of layups four minutes in.

Chinyelu and Condon each had four fouls by the 10-minute mark, but Haugh’s three-point play and deep shot led to a 67-50 Florida lead inside of eight minutes to play.
