No. 3 Iowa State continues historic run with win over Oklahoma State

Joshua Jefferson scored 19 points and Milan Momcilovic added 18 as No. 3 Iowa State defeated Oklahoma State 83-71 in a Big 12 game Saturday in Ames, Iowa.

The Cyclones (16-0, 3-0) added to the best start in school history and remained one of five unbeaten teams in the country.

The Cowboys (13-3, 1-2) were led by Parsa Fallah with 21 points and 11 rebounds and Anthony Roy with 19 points.

Oklahoma State played without its second leading scorer Vyctorius Miller, who was sidelined with an injured ankle.

Fellow starter Christian Coleman, who missed the Cowboys win over UCF with a flu, was limited to 11 minutes.

Momcilovic was 6-of-10 from the floor, including 3-of-5 from the 3-pointer line. Jefferson was 10-of-12 from the free-throw line

The Cyclones forced the Cowboys into 15 turnovers as they led throughout the entire second half.

The Cowboys led for much of the first half, but the Cyclones were finally able to take a 27-26 lead with 6:43 to go with a 6-0 run.

Momcilovic, who had 16 points in the first half, nailed a 3-pointer and Killyan Toure scored on a layup to tie the game.

A Blake Buchanan free throw gave the Cyclones the one-point lead.

Isaiah Coleman hit a pair of inside jumpers and Jaylen Curry scored on a layup for a 6-2 Cowboys run and a 36-34 lead with 3:12 left.

The Cyclones came right back, however, as Dominick Nelson scored a three-point play off a jumper and Momcilovic hit another 3-pointer for a 40-36 Iowa State lead with 1:24 left.

Curry came back with an inside jumper for the Cowboys, but Momcilovic hit a 17-footer for a 42-38 lead.

Fallah was able to get a layup off his own missed shot to make it 42-40 Iowa State at the break.

The Cowboys led by as many as nine in the first half.

Fallah gave OSU a 17-13 lead with 11:49 left in the half with a jumper.

Roy made it a 7-0 run with a 3-pointer and a pair of free throws for a 22-13 OSU lead.

The Cyclones went nearly six minutes without a field goal as the Cowboys built their lead.
