Pryce Sandfort finished with 20 points and Cale Jacobsen added a career-high 16 to lead Nebraska to a 106-64 victory Monday night over Le Moyne in the season opener for both teams in Lincoln, Neb.

Sandfort, a senior who played his first two seasons at Iowa, eclipsed 1,000 points in his career with his first basket. He is now at 1,019 points.

He is the lone full-time starter to return from a Nebraska team that advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history.

Sandfort, who converted a school-record 129 shots from 3-point range last year, struggled from beyond the arc Monday, going 1 of 6.

Jacobsen made both of his 3-point attempts and finished 7 of 8 from the field. Connor Essegian finished with 13 points for Nebraska.

Damon Wilkinson had 11 points after making all nine of his free-throw attempts. Jacob Lanier also had 11 points and Trevan Leonhardt had seven points, five rebounds and seven assists.

Le Moyne was led by Trevor Roe’s 20 points, six rebounds and six assists. Jayden Teat added 14 points and five assists.

Le Moyne, in its fourth season at the Division I level, is 0-10 against Power Five opponents.

Nebraska shot 53.8% from the field and outrebounded Le Moyne 40-29. The Cornhuskers had 24 assists for their 35 made field goals with most of the production inside. They outscored Le Moyne 40-22 in the paint.

A 12-0 run gave Nebraska a 29-17 lead with 8:42 left in the first half. Le Moyne did not come closer than nine points the rest of the game.

Nebraska closed the first half by scoring the last 11 points to take a 58-32 halftime lead.

Sandfort and Jacobsen nearly outscored Le Moyne in the first half by themselves, combining for 30 points on 12-of-17 shooting from the field. Sandfort had 16 points and five rebounds at that point.

Nebraska made 62.5% of its shots from the field in the first half while Le Moyne was at 41.4%.
