No. 20 Baylor 96, John Brown 70

Langston Love tied a career high with 20 points as the Bears used their depth to shrug off the fatigue from a quick turnaround and defeat the Golden Eagles in Waco, Texas.

After beginning its season Tuesday with a game in South Dakota, it took until the final five minutes for Baylor to push its lead to 20 points against John Brown, an NAIA school. RayJ Dennis scored 16 points, Jayden Nunn had 15 and Yves Missi contributed 10 for the Bears.

Drew Miller led the Golden Eagles with 19 points, while Malachi Reeves had 17 points on perfect 7-for-7 shooting from the floor.

No. 21 USC 85, Cal State Bakersfield 59

Isaiah Collier put up 19 points to lead five scorers in double figures for the Trojans, who cruised past the Roadrunners in Los Angeles.

USC (2-0) never trailed and opened up a double-digit-point lead before the game’s first media timeout with a hot and balanced offensive start. Four of the five Trojans starters scored in the game’s first four minutes.

Kaleb Higgins matched Collier’s game highs with 19 points and five assists to lead Cal State Bakersfield (1-1). Cameron Wilbon added 10 points for the Roadrunners, and Ugnius Jarusevicius scored six points in the loss.

No. 23 Saint Mary’s 72, New Mexico 58

Aidan Mahaney scored a game-high 25 points and the Gaels never trailed while beating the Lobos in Moraga, Calif.

Mahaney canned 9 of 19 shots and 5 of 10 3-point attempts for Saint Mary’s (2-0), which opened up a double-figure lead just over five minutes into the game while avenging a loss to the Lobos last season. Harry Wessels came off the Saint Mary’s bench to add 12.

Donovan Dent scored 15 points for New Mexico (1-1), and Nelly Junior Joseph chipped in 11 points and 13 rebounds. However, Jamal Mashburn Jr., the team’s leading scorer in a Monday win over Texas Southern, converted just 3 of 16 shots from the field and finished with only seven points.
