The Anaheim Ducks will honor former forward Ryan Getzlaf when the franchise retires his No. 15 in a Jan. 30 ceremony.
Getzlaf played all 17 of his NHL seasons in a Ducks uniform, scoring 282 goals with 737 assists over 1,157 regular-season games. The three-time All-Star retired after the 2021-22 season when he scored three goals with 34 assists in 56 games.
The Regina, Saskatchewan, native helped Anaheim win its only Stanley Cup title in 2007 when he scored 25 goals with 33 assists in the 2006-07 regular season and added seven goals with 10 assists in 21 playoff games.
“Ryan Getzlaf’s impact on the Ducks will be felt for generations to come,” Ducks owners Henry and Susan Samueli said in a news release. “While no player in club history played more games or scored more points, it’s his leadership, championship DNA and community contributions we will remember most. He’s a legacy player who rightfully will have his jersey hung alongside Teemu Selanne, Paul Kariya and Scott Niedermayer at Honda Center.”
The Ducks already have retired the numbers of three players, Selanne’s No. 8, Kariya’s No. 9 and Niedermayer’s No. 27.
Anaheim is also set to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its 2007 title two days before Getzlaf’s ceremony on Jan. 28.
