Jordan Martinook scored two first-period goals and Andrei Svechnikov also had two goals as the Carolina Hurricanes routed the Chicago Blackhawks 9-2 on Saturday night in Raleigh, N.C.

Seth Jarvis, Jackson Blake, Sebastian Aho, Alexander Nikishin and Shayne Gostisbehere also scored. Nikishin, a second-year defenseman who was unsigned when the season began, appeared in his first game of the season. The nine goals tied the Carolina record since the franchise relocated from Hartford, Conn., in 1997.

Eric Robinson, Jesperi Kotkaniemi and William Carrier each had two assists as the Hurricanes built a 7-0 lead through two periods.

Goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov bounced back from his first loss of the season with 18 saves. He won his first 10 starts to set a franchise record.

The Blackhawks, completing a three-game road trip, lost their sixth consecutive game and have dropped nine of their last 10.

Chicago’s Roman Kantserov and Connor Bedard scored in the third period, with Alex Vlasic assisting on both goals. Blackhawks goaltender Spencer Knight allowed six goals on 17 shots before Arvid Soderblom replaced him.

Carolina scored twice in the first 3 1/2 minutes, with Jarvis opening the scoring and Blake adding the second goal. Blake extended his career-best point streak to nine games.

The Hurricanes, playing their final game before traveling to Finland for two games against the Seattle Kraken next week, have won their last two home games by a combined 16-2 margin. That stretch includes last Sunday’s 7-0 rout of the Winnipeg Jets.

Jarvis scored his second goal of the season 1:34 into the game. Blake followed less than two minutes later before Martinook scored twice.

The Blackhawks managed just one shot in the first 11 minutes, during which Carolina scored twice. By the time the Hurricanes took a 6-0 lead, Chicago had managed just eight shots.

Kantserov ended Kochetkov’s shutout bid 5:56 into the third period, extending his point streak to eight games.

Carolina outscored Chicago 14-4 in their two meetings this season.
