Jacksonville defensive end Josh Hines-Allen has been ruled out for personal reasons for the Jaguars’ season finale on Sunday afternoon at the Indianapolis Colts.
He is not traveling with the team to Indianapolis, the Jaguars (4-12) announced Saturday. In a corresponding move, the Jaguars elevated defensive end Joe Gaziano from the practice squad to the active roster.
Hines-Allen, 27, has started all 16 games this season and has 45 tackles, eight sacks, 10 tackles for loss, 19 quarterback hits, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
Jacksonville selected him seventh overall in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Kentucky. He has 296 career tackles, 53 sacks, 63 tackles for loss, 122 QB hits, two interceptions, 10 forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries in 90 regular-season games (76 starts).
He made the 2019 NFL All-Rookie Team and was voted to the Pro Bowl in 2019 and 2023.
Gaziano, 28, has played in two games this season for Jacksonville and has two tackles. He spent parts of the previous four seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers (2020-22) and Atlanta Falcons (2023) and has 26 career tackles and one sack in 25 games (one start).
