Michelle Alozie scored the tiebreaking goal in the 93rd minute as the Houston Dash rallied for a 2-1 victory over Gotham FC on Sunday in Harrison, N.J.

Houston (5-8-3, 18 points) got the game-winning goal a little over four hours after the initial start of the contest, which was delayed for about two hours due to rain and lightning in the area.

After Houston blocked a right-footed attempt by Gotham’s Khyah Harper, the Dash moved the ball quickly upfield. Sarah Puntigam found Alozie in transition, and Houston took the lead on a right-footed shot that sailed over goalie Ann-Katrin Berger into the top-left corner.

Esther Gonzalez scored her league-leading 11th goal of the season in the eighth minute, but Gotham (5-6-5, 20 points) allowed an own goal early in the second half and saw its four-game unbeaten streak halted.

Gonzalez moved past Kansas City’s Temwa Chawinga for the league lead after Rose Lavelle had a shot carom off the post. Gotham was able to retain possession and move the ball around to Gabi Portilho, who dribbled from near the end line while being hounded by Allysha Chapman.

Upon gaining possession, Gonzalez scored her fourth goal in four games by chipping in a right-footed shot from the center of the box into the bottom-right corner of the net.

Gotham had seven attempts in the first half and held the lead until the 51st minute, when Emily Sonnett scored into her own net while trying to move the ball up the field.

Houston goalkeeper Jane Campbell made four saves, including a potential go-ahead score on a Jaelin Howell header in the 87th minute.
