Lucas Raymond had the only goal during the shootout as the host Detroit Red Wings topped the San Jose Sharks 4-3 on Saturday.

Alex DeBrincat scored with 1:33 left in regulation to send the game into overtime. Justin Faulk and Emmitt Finnie also scored for the Red Wings, while John Gibson made 31 saves.

San Jose star Macklin Celebrini racked up a goal and two assists, Dmitry Orlov and Ivar Stenberg supplied power-play goals and Alex Nedeljkovic made 24 saves for the Sharks.

With Gibson pulled for an extra skater, DeBrincat scored on a tip-in to tie the game at 3-all. Viktor Arvidsson and Moritz Seider had the assists.

Detroit had to kill off an Andrew Copp penalty in overtime to force a shootout.

Detroit cashed in on its first power play with 7:15 left in the first period. With Mason Marchment in the penalty box for interference, Faulk fired a shot from just inside the blue line that deflected off a defender’s skate and past Nedeljkovic. Finnie and Michael Rasmussen picked up the assists.

San Jose knotted the score with 2:01 left in the period on its second power play. With Ben Chiarot in the penalty box for holding, Orlov scored on a shot from the point. Stenberg and Celebrini collected the assists.

Detroit defenseman William Wallinder turned the puck over in his own zone, allowing the Sharks to take the lead at 4:55 of the second period. Celebrini scored his third goal with a slapshot from the slot. Will Smith and Michael Kesselring had the assists.

Both teams killed off a pair of penalties later in the middle period.

With Red Wings defenseman Andreas Englund in the penalty box for tripping, San Jose made it 3-1 at 2:48 of the third. Stenberg scored in front off a feed from Alexander Wennberg. Celebrini notched the secondary assist.

Finnie scored just over two minutes later, tapping in a Michael Brandsegg-Nygard shot attempt.
