Roope Hintz scored the tying goal with two minutes left in regulation, then struck late in overtime, giving the Dallas Stars a 3-2 victory over the visiting Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night.

With Dallas down 2-1 and its goaltender pulled for the extra skater, Mikko Rantanen camped behind the Jets net and sent the puck to Hintz in the slot to beat Skinner and force OT.

In the extra session, after Winnipeg’s Neil Pionk had his shot blocked, the puck came the other way for Hintz on a breakaway to slide past Stuart Skinner (35 saves) with 1:13 left.

Wyatt Johnston scored his first goal of the season and added an assist for the Stars, who have won four straight. Dallas’ Jason Robertson and Rantanen each had two assists. Jake Oettinger stopped 17 shots for the victory.

Gabriel Vilardi and Kyle Connor scored for the Jets, who were outshot 38-19 while falling to 0-2-2 in their past four games.

After failing to score despite outshooting Winnipeg 12-6 in the first period, Dallas opened the scoring 1:17 into the second. On a delayed penalty and with an extra skater on the ice, Rantanen and Robertson moved the puck into position for a successful Johnston snap shot from the near wing.

Winnipeg leveled the contest with 9:10 remaining in the middle frame. Moments after Oettinger stopped Brayden Yager’s breakaway attempt, the Jets came through when Vilardi pounced and poked the puck in through some net-front traffic.

The Jets grabbed the lead 1:48 later. After Dallas failed to clear its own zone, Pionk sent the puck for Connor to one-time past Oettinger from the right circle.

Skinner was stout against a potent Stars attack, often limiting the hosts’ rebound chances. He maintained the Jets’ 2-1 lead when he reached to stop a rolling puck off a net-front deflection from crossing the goal line in the final minute of the second period.

Winnipeg veteran Nino Niederreiter exited the contest with 6:51 remaining in the third period after being hit in the face by the stick of teammate Tyrel Bauer.
