Seth Jarvis scored two goals to go with an assist in the Carolina Hurricanes’ 4-3 victory against the New York Islanders on Saturday night in Raleigh, N.C.

The Hurricanes never led until Sebastian Aho’s short-handed goal with 3:43 remaining in the second period. Jackson Blake also scored for Carolina (49-21-6, 104 points), which has won four of its last five games. K’Andre Miller had two assists and Brandon Bussi made 13 saves to improve his record to 29-6-1.

Marc Gatcomb, Max Shabanov and Anders Lee had the goals for the Islanders (42-21-5, 89 points), who have a four-game losing streak for the first time this season. They played in their final road game of the season, finishing 21-17-3 away from home. Ilya Sorokin, playing in his 11th consecutive game, stopped 36 shots.

Gatcomb’s third goal of the season came 5:17 into the game off a deflection. He converted after he came out of the penalty box as the Hurricanes had been denied at the other end.

Jarvis raced in from the center stripe and got an angle on Islanders defenseman Ryan Pulock to send in a shot from the right side for his first goal of the game at 11:07 of the first period.

Shabanov restored New York’s lead 2:15 into the middle period and Jackson Blake tied the game back at 2 before Aho’s goal gave Carolina six shorthanded tallies in the last nine games.

Jarvis’ team-leading 32nd goal of the season came 24 seconds into the third period to push the score to 4-2.

Ten of the Islanders’ 16 shots on goal came in the final period, in part due to going with an extra skater down the stretch and then converting on Lee’s goal with 1:37 remaining.

The Hurricanes, who two nights earlier clinched a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, outshot New York 13-4 in the first period and held a 31-6 advantage in shots on goal through two periods.

Carolina improved to 28-10-2 in home games.

New York is the first team in the league to complete its road schedule and will play its final four games at home.
