After tying a WNBA record for points in a single game, Toronto Tempo guard Marina Mabrey was a late scratch for Sunday’s home game against the Phoenix Mercury with neck spasms.
Mabrey reportedly warmed up for the game but was ruled out just before tipoff.
Mabrey scored 53 points against the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday, becoming the third player in league history to have that many points in a single game.
Phoenix was missing Alyssa Thomas who was serving her one-game suspension for an altercation with the Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark on Wednesday. The Mercury dressed nine players.
