Fifth-seeded Lois Boisson of France recovered from a large first-set deficit to notch a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Hungary’s Anna Bondar on Sunday to win the championship match of the MSC Hamburg Ladies Open in Germany.

It marks the first career WTA singles victory for Boisson, who stunningly reached the French Open semifinals last month. Boisson saved 9 of 13 break points and overcame 10 double faults to beat No. 7 seed Bondar.

Bondar jumped out to 4-0 and 5-2 leads in the opening set before Boisson rallied to win the final five games. Bondar led 3-1 in the second set before Boisson again recovered and won five straight games to end the match.

Unicredit Iasi Open

Irina-Camelia Begu found playing at home to be delightful as the seventh-seeded Romanian recorded a 6-0, 7-5 victory over Switzerland’s Jil Teichmann to win her sixth career title.

Begu had four aces and converted 5 of 8 break points while winning her first WTA crown since Palermo in 2022. No. 6 seed Teichmann was in her first final since losing in the 1000-level Cincinnati event in 2021.

Begu won 13 of 19 service points in the first set while serving up a bagel to Teichmann. The second set was more competitive and Teichmann led 5-4 before Begu won three straight games to end the match.
