The PGA Tour’s FedEx Fall schedule returns with the World Wide Technology Championship in Mexico, the LPGA Tour wraps up it’s “Asia Swing” in Japan and the DP World Tour playoffs begin in Abu Dhabi.

NOTES: El Cardonal is the first Tiger Woods-designed course to host a PGA Tour event and will play host to the event for the third time. … This is the fifth of seven events on the FedEx Cup Fall series. Only the top 100 players following the fall events will secure fully exempt status for 2026. Those who began the fall series in the top 70 already have clinched their top-100 eligibility, with Nos. 51-70 still working to secure spots in the first two signature events of 2026. … The field includes 23 alumni of the Cabo Collegiate NCAA invitational, led by defending champion Eckroat. There are also four natives of Mexico playing this week: Emilio Gil Leyva (Culiacan), Emilio Gonzalez (San Miguel de Allende), Alejandro Madariaga (Puebla) and Omar Morales (Puebla). … 2025 Korn Ferry Tour Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year Johnny Keefer is in the field on a sponsor exemption. Other sponsor exemptions include former college stars Peter Knade (Maryland) and Will Gordon (Vanderbilt) along with current Florida State junior Tyler Weaver, who won last week’s Cabo Collegiate. European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald is also playing in his first PGA Tour event since March.
BEST BETS: Ben Griffin (+1000 at DraftKings) followed a T10 at the Tour Championship with a runner-up at the Procore but is coming off a disappointing T32 at the DP World India Championship. … J.J. Spaun (+1200) is the highest-ranked player in the field at No. 6. He finished sixth at the Procore in his only other fall start this season. … Max Greyserman (+2000) is coming off a runner-up in Japan that snapped a streak of five missed cuts in six starts. … Garrick Higgo (+2200) has finished T7 or better in three consecutive starts, including a runner-up at the Sanderson Farms. … Michael Thorbjornsen (+2200) finished third in Japan and is a career-high 74th in the world rankings. … Wyndham Clark (+3000) is among the most accomplished players in the field but is still searching for his form. Clark’s T48 in Japan followed a missed cut on the DP World Tour. … Michael Brennan (+3000) qualified for the event with his win in Utah and will make his first start as a PGA Tour member.

Hotel Planner Tour graduate Brandon Robinson Thompson currently occupies the 50th spot. Also in the field are European Ryder Cup players Ludvig Aberg and Shane Lowry, who were not otherwise exempt into the event. … McIlroy is seeking his seventh Harry Vardon Trophy and his fourth in a row. His nearest challenger is Marco Penge, a three-time winner on tour this season who is 441.32 points behind the world’s No. 2-ranked player. McIlroy, Penge and Tyrrell Hatton will play in the opening round’s featured group.
